South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu
Training

South Australian Bujinkan Ninjutsu is an Adelaide based Bujinakan dojo.

The objective of the club is to develop effective Martial Artists and enable members to apply the ancient Asian wisdom transmitted by the Grandmaster to improve their lives and the lives of those around them. The club strives to develop respected, leading individuals in the community.
To achieve this goal, the club conducts several regular weekly lessons along with other events. Broadly speaking training consists of the following:

• Unarmed combat
• Self defense
• Weapons training and defense against armed attackers
• Defense against multiple opponents
• Training in traditional Japanese Armour (Yoroi)
• Archery
• Environmental training
• Stealth training
• Philosophy
• Politics
• Strategy & Tactics from the individual level through to groups both large and small

In addition to the regular weekly lessons the club also runs a number of events including:

• Training holidays to Japan to train with the Grandmaster and other Japanese masters
• Regular outdoor long training sessions
• Weekend seminars featuring the dojo’s head instructor and other leading instructors from around the world.
• Regular grading nights
• Dinners
• Bi-annual overseas training holidays to visit historically important areas and train with leading international instructors
• Other external events (these are run by third party providers and include activities like rock climbing and first aid course etc.)

As a result of this training and the constant exposure to fighting techniques, members learn to naturally avoid conflict, with the act of physically defending themselves being used as an absolute last resort. Importantly, members also develop the ability to apply the teachings to all parts of their lives on a day to day basis. In the words of the late Takamatsu Sensei, "Ninjutsu is the constant development of you as a human being."

All members of the club are card carrying members of the international Bujinkan Dojo.

Instructors
Evan and the GrandmasterEvan R. Bailey is the head instructor of the dojo. Evan commenced training in the Bujinkan in 1995. In this time he has travelled to Japan on a number of occasions where he trains with Hatsumi Sensei (the Bujinkan’s Grandmaster) and the top Japanese Shihan (Masters) including Nagato Sensei and Noguchi Sensei. Evan is a Shidoshi (licensed Bujinkan instructor) and member of the Shidoshi Kai. Evan passed the Sakki test with Hatsumi Sensei in the Hombu Dojo in September 2005. He now travels to Japan each year and regularly travels around the world. In his late teens and early 20’s, he worked as bouncer in a large nightclub that had frequent incidences of high level violence. This violence was often directed at the security team in an organized manner by groups of people. This lead to Evan being involved in many self defence situations where the application of the techniques of the Bujinkan proved invaluable in avoiding serious physical harm and controlling groups of people. Through his training in the Bujinkan, Evan has trained with international police and military including Special Weapons and Tactics team instructors and body guards for high profile clients. Evan has also dealt with high profile Australian Police officers and global risk management experts. Now, Evan is involved in building and running businesses in various industries. In all aspects of life, Evan is committed to helping people improve themselves and develop the skills they require to survive and prosper in the ever changing world we live in. This not only calls for mastery of martial or fighting skills, but in all aspects of life equally.
